Public Speaking

(Half-year course with Economics for students in Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)
No Prerequisite
 
In this introductory course, students will learn the basics of Public Speaking.  Through various speeches, activities, and exercises, we focus on the following areas:

I.    Public Speaking Fundamentals: Stage Fright, Audience Etiquette, Ice Breakers, Mini-speeches; Proper Voice & Speech Skills, Active Listening

II.   Writing & Delivery of Formal Speeches:  Current Events, Narrative, Demonstration, Persuasive, Presentation, Interviews, Special Occasion, Debate

III.  Writing & Delivery of Informal Speeches: Improvisation, Impromptu Toasts, Social & Phone Etiquette, College/Job Interviews

IV.  Critique and Evaluation: of classmates and of self
